Update

So I have not posted for long.

I know the excuse is pathetic but the fact is my internet connection was down.

And I was not really in the mood to go to a cyber-cafe and blog. Beyond the obvious ,let me confess that I was procrastinating big time.

Well all good things must end.

SO how have things been? Boring as usual.

Last year of engineering is indeed a farce. After being placed one seriously does not feel like studying. I just hope I can get myself to study for my semester exams which are to be held in December. Dont really want the infamy of a backlog.

Anyway looking at the bigger picture I recently sat for the C.A.T.(Common Aptitude Test) for admission to the IIMs. And I managed to kind of blow it. The paper was easy but tension got the better of me and I managed to mistime the paper. But the world is still there and if I dont clear the sectional cut-off this year I shall try again next year and hopefully ace it then.

I have made my choice and I shall be moving towards the MBA stream rather than M.S. Its hard to explain why but the main tilting point was the fact that I think an MBA would lead me to more opportunities of leadership and creativity.

Btw have a SOP to write for FMS and I only have a day. The evils of delaying till the last moment.

This is me

Okay this is a photo of mine that I was working on for long.

No, this is not a sketch.

It's a manipulation using two different softwares sequentially.

Interesting Tale- Words of the wanderer

"
Two years he walks the earth. No phone, no pool, no pets, no cigarettes. Ultimate freedom. An extremist. An aesthetic voyager whose home is the road. Escaped from Atlanta. Thou shalt not return, 'cause "the West is the best." And now after two rambling years comes the final and greatest adventure. The climactic battle to kill the false being within and victoriously conclude the spiritual pilgrimage. Ten days and nights of freight trains and hitchhiking bring him to the Great White North. No longer to be poisoned by civilization he flees, and walks alone upon the land to become lost in the wild.

Alexander Supertramp
May 1992"

The above were the lines written by Christopher McCandless, a lonely wanderer living off the land in the wilderness of Alasaka. He was an intelligent student coming from a relatively well off background but he grew disgruntled with our modern lifestyles and in a yogic kind of way left it all. Gave up his savings of 20,000 dollars to Oxfam charity and roamed the cities and the wilderness like a tramp. Frst he had a car and then when it broke down,he dumped it and symbolically burned his last 120 $ to live in penury. In his final Odyssey he wanted to live for some months in Alaskan jungles.

He succeeded but then when he tried to rejoin civilization he found his way blocked by a river swollen because of rains. So he went back and some days later ended up mistakenly consuming the pods of wild pea which are poisonous and was unable to hunt or forage for food. Already weakened , he started literally starving to death.

Starvation is not a pleasant way to die. In advanced stages, as the body begins to consume itself, the victim suffers muscle pain, heart disturbances, loss of hair, shortness of breath. Convulsions and hallucinations are not uncommon. Some who have been brought back from the far edge of starvation, though, report that near the end their suffering was replaced by a sublime euphoria, a sense of calm accompanied by transcendent mental clarity. Perhaps, it would be nice to think, McCandless enjoyed a similar rapture.

His body was found inside the abandoned bus where he had set up base camp by hunters some 7 days after his death. And a book named "Into the Wild" and a soon to be made movie ensures that his story has become a legend.

To the enigma that was Christopher McCandless.

Maybe Tomorrow Is A Better Day by POETS OF THE FALL

Love this song esp the line "
I won't cry for my solitude, lay my head and dream of you"

I'd stay the hand of god, but the war is on your lips
How can I brace myself for razor blades on whips
When everything with meaning is shattered, broken, screaming
And I'm lost inside this darkness and I fear I won't survive

I could pray and trick with a double tongue, but the only fool here's me
I choose the way to go, but the road won't set me free
Cos I wish you'd see me, baby, save me, I'm going crazy
Tryin' to keep us real, keep us alive

This day will die tonight and there ain't no exception
We shouldn't wait for nothing to wait for
Love me in this fable, babe, my heart is in your hand
Our time is waiting right outside your door
And maybe tomorrow is a better day

I do not deal the cards and I play a lousy hand
I celebrate no victories and my promises are sand
Against all this I contrast you, when all is lost the war is through
Hey angel, dare the winds now we can fly

This day will die tonight and there ain't no exception
Why should I wait for nothing to wait for

Let me love you in this fable, hold your heart in my hand
Our time is waiting right outside your door
And maybe tomorrow is a better day

This day will die tonight and there ain't no exception
Why should I wait for nothing to wait for
I won't cry for my solitude, lay my head and dream of you
And hope that you'll come knocking on my door
And maybe tomorrow is a better day
I know tomorrow is a better day

Enjoy

The ten commandments of Democracy

1. We must all separate politics and religion, and we must never place religion above the laws of democracy.
2. We must all respect that all people have equal rights regardless of sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
3. No person must ever incite to hatred, and we must never allow hatred to enter our hearts.
4. No person must ever use or encourage violence – no matter how frustrated or wronged we feel, or how just our cause.
5. We must all make use of dialogue - always.
6. We must all show respect for the freedom of expression, also of those with whom we disagree the most.
7. No person can claim for themselves or assign to others a place apart, neither as superior persons, as inferior persons or as eternal victims.
8. We must all treat other people’s national and religious symbols as we wish them to treat ours – flag-burning and graffiti on churches, mosques and synagogues are insults that hinder dialogue and increase the repression of the other party.
9. We must all mind our manners in public. Public space is not a stage on which to vent one’s aggressions or to spread fear and hate, but should be a forum for visions and arguments, where the best must win support.
10. We must all stand up for our opponent if he or she is subjected to spiteful treatment.

The commandments were first voiced in a speech by Naser Khader in 2002.He is a Danish muslim politician who tried to encourage dialogue and promote the acceptance of freedom of expression as an inalienable right after the cartoons controversy.

Let me know what u think. Because in this age more than any we have to decide where we stand

Personally I believe we need more such Khaders

Found this site http://keepmeinsuspense.blogspot.com/ the other day while browsing on the net. Really interesting site. Lots of tips for writers etc. So good in that sense.

Moving on today was a holiday so had a movie day

Started with Man on Fire a 2004 release starring Denzel Washington. Its a nice movie about a retired assassin played by Denzel Washingtonwho is now employed as a bodyguard for a little girl Pita played by Dakota Fanning. In the course of the movie Pita is kidnapped and everyone assumes later killed by the kidnappers. Denzel who had been shot during the kidnapping, recovers and goes after the kidnappers meting out his own justice. The movie was very interesting and fun to watch though the attempt to portray it as a real story in the end left a bad taste in my mouth. I had to go on to the net and double check.

Next I shifted to The Simpsons which was again a rather enjoyable movie. The antics
of the Simpson Family have foreven been bizarrely hillarious and the trend continues. Watch it only if u are interested.

Finally I decided to watch 'The Bourne Ultimatum'. The final of the trilogy, the movie was as fast paced and enjoyable as the rest though I think a glitch occurred
when it is shown in the movie that an agent who is supposed to kill Bourne leaves him untouched after Bourne is knocked out by a car explosion intended to kill someone else. I dont really get the scene. SUm1 explain it if possible.
